Maiden Blog Post

Hello! Well, I've finally gone and done what people have been saying I needed to do. It remains to be seen if I can actually squeeze enough time out of each day or so to post. A lot will depend on your responses, because I'd like to use my blog as a sounding board for ideas about the writing, development, and publishing of textbooks and other instructional materials at all levels and in all media.

I also see this blog as a way to share my knowledge and expertise freely. I know blogs are vehicles for personal revelations, but I hope to address your questions and concerns as well as mine. I also will be glad to discuss or clarify any content in my books, Writing and Developing Your College Textbook and Writing and Developing College Textbook Supplements. If you have used either of these books I would love to hear from you. Also, your feedback or input for my forthcoming revisions of those books is most welcome.

BTW, I am considering offering these titles as e-books as well as print editions, or as online subscriptions to content or downloads. They are full of URLs, which I think would make them suitable for online delivery in some form. What do you think? What formats might you prefer?

Funny, now that I've actually started, I suddenly seem to have a lot to say! A whole list of topics has sprung into my head (or out of it--I read recently in Scientific American that we really are only hosts for our marvelous brains). Anyway, I will resist listing topics and just say that my next blog will be on the ethics of authorship.

All the best, Mary Ellen

As a relatively newie blogger myself, I am curious to see how your experience evolves. I will add you to my favorites and keep reading.
