Fall-Winter 2009-2010 Mary Ellen conducts a two-part online teleconference on writing and developing textbook supplements for members of the Text and Academic Authors Association. She also develops an academic portal for a marketing association and an online textbook and supplement for Flat World Knowledge. Spring-Summer, 2009 Mary Ellen leaves the Independent Publishers of New England to a new President and Board of Directors. As a newly elected member of the Board of Directors of the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), she contributes to the revision and expansion of member benefits before resigning to devote more time to the interests of independent academic publishers. Her company sponsors the 2009 annual meeting of the Text and Academic Authors Association in Texas. Fall-Winter, 2008-2009 Mary Ellen Lepionka announces a new workshop for authors on developing a winning textbook proposal, to be offered under the auspices of the Text and Academic Authors Association. Mary Ellen gives a teleconference to TAA members on this subject. Mary Ellen also participates in cooperative exhibits with the Independent Publishers of New England (IPNE) at the Burlington Book Fair, Eastern States Exposition, New England Independent Booksellers Association (NEIBA), and New England Library Association (NELA). and participates in a panel discussion at the IBPA/IPNE Regional Publishing University in Manchester, NH. Spring-Summer, 2008 Mary Ellen mentors textbook authors and particpates in panel discussions at the annual meeting of the Text and Academic Authors Association (TAA) in Las Vegas. Atlantic Path Publishing is a sponsor of TAA. In August Mary Ellen begins a two-year term as a board member of the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA). Fall-Winter, 2007-2008 Mary Ellen presents a webinar on educational publishing to members of the Independent Book Publishers Association (formerly PMA). Spring-Summer, 2007 Mary Ellen co-exhibits books by academic small publishers at a Saratoga Springs, NY, in a joint trade show of the the College Stores of New England and the College Stores Association of New York State. Independent Publishers of New England (IPNE) meets for a workshop on successful small press publishing at Storey Publishing in North Adams, MA. Mary Ellen is a member of the IPNE Board of Directors. In May she moderates and presents at PMA-University in New York City: Session 5d, Tapping the El-Hi, Higher Ed, and Professional Education Markets. Fall-Winter, 2006-2007 Mary Ellen Lepionka serves as an online consultant in a UNESCO-sponsored international conference on textbook development in higher education, held in Tehran, Iran. She participates in the NEIBA and NELA book shows. IPNE conducts a workshop on September in conjunction with NEIBA on "Essential Business Software for Running a Small Publishing Office." Spring-Summer, 2006 Mary Ellen moderates a session on "Selling to Teachers and Schools" at PMA-University in Washington, DC. Mary Ellen and other members of the PMA Academic/Education special interest group exhibit their el-hi and higher-ed products at the College Stores of New England (CSNE) Superregional Show in Foxwoods, CT. Mary Ellen also exhibits at the Pubic Library Association (PLA) book show. In addition, she conducts a two-day workshop for editors and publishers at the Canadian Securities Institute in Toronto on the relationships between learning theory and textbook construction. Writing and Developing Your College Textbook is adopted for use by CSI authors and editors, and the Institute subsequently asks Mary Ellen to oversee the development of key CSI course products. 2005-2006 Education Review featured SELF-PUBLISHING TEXTBOOKS AND INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS in the December (see http://edrev.asu.edu/brief/jan06.html#12 or www.lib.mus.edu/corby/reviews/posted/silvermanf.htm). The Midwest Book Review featured WRITING AND DEVELOPING COLLEGE TEXTBOOK SUPPLEMENTS (2005) in their December library newsletter (seehttp://midwestbookreview.com/ibw/dec_05.htm#rc).
